City Grub
Jessica: Potato Platter
Where: Tacos Matamoros 4503 Fifth Ave., Sunset Park, BrooklynCost: $6.00
You'll eat more than your belly wants, just because your mouth will get too greedy. Tacos come decked out with Mexican crema, cotija cheese, avocado, shredded lettuce and sliced radishes. The rice and beans are worth the excessiveness of the dish and nicely complemented by the fresh salsa verde set on all the tables. Don't forget to pay a visit to the digital jukebox and play your favorite Mark Anthony or Vicente Fernandez tune. Salud!
José: Cashew Nuts with ChickenWhere: Spice Restaurant 199 Eighth Ave., Chelsea
Cost: $8.25
With a gazillion new Thai restaurants that have opened up in the past five years, let me save you some time. I’ve been coming to this joint for years, and Spice never disappoint. If you want to steer away from the traditional Pad Thai, you should dive into their Cashew Nuts Medley with Chicken (or any choice of meat or veggies). Here’s the kicker: you get a free appetizer! Anything from yummy shrimp fritters to an Asian Caesar salad, you can’t beat the price or the food.
Deena: Spicy Chicken Corn Chowder
Where: El*Ay*Si 47-38 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City, Queens
Cost: $6
Ooo...aaah...nice, hot soup to warm you on a cold day with a kick of spice. The talent running the place is hot and spicy, too! Comfort food...there's that no-place-like-home kind of feel and many, many options are under ten bucks. Even brunch can be a complete meal under ten bucks with their scrumptious selections, which include coffee/tea and not one, but two complimentary cocktails. Mimosas anyone?

David: California Veggie BurgerWhere: Lucky’s Famous Burgers 264 West 23rd St., ChelseaCost: $6
Hey, everything is under $10, but the best thing I like, and I have eaten it, is the Cailfornia veggie burger.
